"Het Visioen van Berlage" - with Vincent Bijlo, Theater aan de Slinger February 4, 2026, 20:00h
The Berlage Saxophone Quartet and cabaret artist Vincent Bijlo explore the meaning of art and music in society.
They are inspired by architect H.P. Berlage's 1915 design, The Pantheon of Humanity. Berlage presents this utopian peace monument brought back on stage by Jurjen Alkema, mixed with anti-war poems by Henriëtte Roland Holst in a new piece by Saskia Venegas.
Bijlo, the architect's grandson, will read his own texts while the quartet plays music, ranging from Johann Sebastian Bach's Goldberg Variations to Joey Roukens.
