Since last autumn, the Berlage Saxophone Quartet has been performing in a new formation.

Eva van Grinsven indicated that the physical demands of playing the baritone saxophone had become too great for her. At the same time, we were keen to continue as a quartet. Therefore, we jointly decided to make a change in the quartet’s formation.

With projects such as New Light on Goldberg, De Familie Sax, and Feier/Fire, we had already explored the possibility of such a change and gained confidence that, for us, the players come first, regardless of which saxophone we play.

In the meantime, we have also developed the new productions Scherpdenkers and The Vision of Berlage in our new formation. The premiere of The Vision of Berlage has now taken place and was received very positively.

The new permanent formation of the quartet:

Juani Palop Tecles – soprano saxophone
Peter Vigh – alto saxophone
Eva van Grinsven – tenor saxophone
Lars Niederstrasser – baritone saxophone
