The Brabant Saxophone Platform is an initiative of the Berlage Saxophone Quartet, bringing together saxophonists and teachers from the province of North Brabant. A place where music, connection, and development take center stage.
Brabants Saxophone Platform
Following a successful gathering of saxophonists during the Berlage Festival 2024 at the Theater aan de Parade, the idea emerged to create a structural platform for the Brabant saxophone community. A place to play together, exchange ideas, and inspire one another — and above all, to strengthen and further develop the classical saxophone tradition in Brabant.
Playing together, growing together
The Brabant Saxophone Platform offers participants the opportunity to rehearse together regularly at a high level. Under the direction of conductor William Schaffels, you will work on challenging repertoire while developing your ensemble playing, sound, and technique.
In addition, musicians from the Berlage Saxophone Quartet provide extra coaching and thematic sessions several times a year, focusing on areas such as ensemble training, interpretation, sound production, and repertoire exploration.
But the platform is more than just rehearsals: it is a community where connection, exchange, and inspiration take center stage.
Starting in May 2026
The official launch of the Brabant Saxophone Platform will take place during the Tilburg Sax Summit in May 2026. Here, you can get acquainted with the initiative and sign up to participate. The first rehearsals will begin in September 2026.
The platform is aimed at conservatory students, advanced amateurs, young professionals, and saxophone teachers. Anyone with a strong motivation to make music together and further develop their saxophone playing is welcome.
- Monthly rehearsals (approximately 2 hours)
- Around 10 rehearsals per season
- Additional coaching by the Berlage Saxophone Quartet
- Preparation for concerts and presentation moments
Throughout the season, participants work towards various performances and projects, where ensemble playing and artistic development go hand in hand.
“Join us and become part of a growing saxophone community in Brabant — where ensemble playing, inspiration, and development come together.”
