Juani Palop Tecles

Juani Palop Tecles is a distinguished saxophonist, chamber musician, and educator, currently serving as principal saxophone teacher at the ArtEZ Conservatorium in Zwolle.

Born in Canals, Valencia (1982), she began her musical journey at an early age, studying saxophone and cello in Spain. She graduated cum laude from the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Valencia and continued her studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, including an Erasmus period at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris with Claude Delangle.

In 2009, she completed her Master’s degree cum laude in Amsterdam under Arno Bornkamp, gaining recognition as a musician of exceptional sensitivity, stylistic awareness, and technical command.

As a performer, Juani is praised for her expressive phrasing, wide palette of colors, and natural musicality. She has collaborated with renowned ensembles such as the Banda Municipal de Barcelona, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and Nederlands Blazers Ensemble, bringing both precision and depth to a wide range of repertoire. Chamber music forms the heart of her artistic identity. She is a permanent member of the Berlage Saxophone Quartet, where she finds a strong sense of artistic connection and continuous inspiration. In addition, she co-founded Trio Abril in 2022 with Arno Bornkamp and pianist Frank van de Laar.

Alongside her performing career, Juani is deeply committed to education. She co-founded, together with Javier Alloza, the Alcosax International Saxophone Course and Festival, which over ten editions became an important platform for young saxophonists across Europe. Many of its participants have continued their studies at leading conservatories such as Maastricht, The Hague, and Amsterdam.

Her teaching career has included positions at the Fontys Academy of the Arts in Tilburg and the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, and she is regularly invited to give masterclasses and participate in international events such as the Tilburg Sax Summit and EibarSax Festival. She is widely regarded not only as a teacher, but as a mentor who inspires and guides musicians toward their full potential.
